Happy Antarctic season!

While most of us are at home, feeling festive or at least resting a bit, others are getting ready for two hectic months. For down south, it’s time for the Antarctic field season!

Anna is flying to New Zealand today to join Karen who is already there. They have a week to locate and check all the equipment that was shipped there throughout December. And as Jari is back on the picture, you may have guessed (if you read the Greenland cruise posts): that includes ten LoTUS bottom landers to be deployed on the Antarctic shelf.

I personally don’t know much more about this cruise. Karen and Anna will be until late February on board the South Korean research ice breaker Araon. Their area of interest is the Amundsen Sea shelf where some moorings need to be recovered and others deployed. But for all the rest, I will discover it at the same time as you, reader, as they post their adventures on this blog. So stay tuned, for their Antarctic journey has just begun!
